Think of our urban projects as vertical villages.

We focus on thoughtfully designed residential spaces at the intersection of art and culture, community, and accessible pricing.

We strive to achieve this by integrating various offerings depending on the project, including flexible units, artist live/work studios, and efficient living options.

Ray’s mission is to provide more equitable access to the built spaces of the future.

Our Brand Pillars
Our Brand Pillars

Ray is dynamic — we’re constantly evolving to meet the needs of the changing world around us. In addition to building buildings, we’re interested in technology and public policy related to the built environment, partnering with values-aligned consumer brands, content creation, and community engagement.

The Founding Story

Ray developed out of the need for more spaces that make culture accessible through daily experience. By approaching this through a residential lens, Ray highlights the sense of community and belonging made possible by an intimate shared experience of art, architecture, and design.

Founder Dasha Zhukova was inspired to apply her work in cultural institutions and public art spaces into a new category of the built environment. Dasha established the Garage Museum of Contemporary Art in 2008, seeking to create a space devoted to the discovery and exploration of global art and culture. Her experience at the museum, particularly observing how people interacted with both the art and architecture, was the catalyst for launching Ray.

Dasha also brings her perspective as a co-founder of both Artsy, a digital platform for collecting and discovering art, and New Holland Island, St. Petersburg’s preeminent public arts and recreation space. This combination, along with the Ray team’s interdisciplinary backgrounds, allows for a collaborative and creative approach to the historically traditional space of real estate.
